Saturday: a much-needed mall trip with a grand finale of my girls and me sitting on the floor sorting laundry and the boys trying on Genevieve’s clothes. Had a good talk with clement and came back to find a million selfies on my phone and my home screen changed to a picture of Michael’s ass, then turned on the livestream just in time to watch Jinjoo win Indianapolis—SO MUCH FUCKING SCHOOL PRIDE. So we took celebratory shots of tequila and even though it was late we went out anyway and caught the tail end of trumpet Michael’s party. When we got home Hannah and I were so drunk that we ended up passing out sitting straight up on the couch and I woke up a few hours later to find that clement had come in and covered us with a blanket and turned out the light. A fabulous saturday night.
Friday brought Hannah and I an extremely long and exhausting afternoon of grocery shopping and adulthood (our purchases started out smart—lots of produce, much-needed kitchen items, and staples like eggs and bagels—but got a little out of control toward the end, with things like cool whip to freeze and eat with a spoon and an apocalypse-level gigantic bag of cereal) but we now have a fully stocked kitchen AND a magnificent liquor cabinet. When we got home we rewarded ourselves with homemade piña coladas topped with cool whip and had grapes and peanuts and slices of Swiss cheese for dinner because we were too tired to make anything real. When Michael and Genevieve and Clement got home we all jumbled in a perfect happy pile on the couch. The next morning we woke up to the smell of the magnificent banana pancakes Hannah was making (I got genuinely emotional because it reminded me so much of waking up to the smell of pancakes at my grandma’s house) and shared the loveliest family breakfast.
