Our fucking KILLER jack-o-lanterns

Our fucking KILLER jack-o-lanterns

a perfect october sunday. last night hannah and i got tipsy and went to the cim halloween dance just for shits and giggles, which ended up being the most pathetic failure we’d ever seen. but we scored lots of candy and were planning on going to a party afterwards but it was all the way in little italy and we were tired so we put a spotify halloween playlist on and carved pumpkins instead. this morning we got up and went on a long-awaited and desperately needed shopping trip, which was four times as efficient as last time (we are getting better at being adults!) and now we have food again! when we got home hannah went to rehearsal and clement and i made lunch and watched friends, then the three of us went to jinjoo’s recital, which was fucking incredible. that goddess has a bow arm like nobody i’ve ever fucking seen, GOD. on our way home we made a spontaneous detour to the lakeside, which ended up being so beautiful and fun and perfect. it was a perfect chilly october day and we walked all the way out on the rocks that stick way out into the lake and stuck three different kinds of flowers behind our ears (at my insistence) and took selfies and sat out at the very end and watched the sun set halfway until we got cold and left. it was nice to get out of the cim/coventry bubble and see a bit of the real world, even if it was just lake erie. when we got home we put on sweatpants and made the most amazing spring rolls with imitation crab and avocado and ate them while watching friends. a perfect day with perfect people.

last week i flew out to edmonton for my opa’s funeral. here are some things that happened that made me feel things.

Grey’s Anatomy: 17 Seconds

So what makes anger different from the six other deadly sins? It’s pretty simple really, you give into a sin like envy or pride and you only hurt yourself. Try lust or coveting and you’ll only hurt yourself and one or two others. But anger, anger is the worst… the mother of all sins… Not only can anger drive you over the edge, when it does you can take an awful lot of people with you.

Olafur Eliasson’s “Riverbed” Converts a Museum into a Natural Landscape

Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, known for his large-scale installations employing elemental materials like light, water, earth, and even atmosphere, transformed an entire wing of Denmark’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art into a riverbed for his first solo exhibition. The work, which uses rocks, soil, and running water to precisely emulate a natural landscape, stands in stark contrast to the white walls of one of Denmark’s most important Modernist buildings. Originally designed in 1958 by architects Jørgen Bo and Wilhlem Wohlert, the Louisiana’s staggered, irregularly sized portals create an experience that highlights movement through space. By filling the Louisiana with a landscape its galleries might have replaced, Eliasson heightens the haptic qualities of this experience and points to the reality of the museum as an institution and a physical locality. The work raises the question of how natural and built environments might intersect, though it is up to the viewer to decide whether this tension is constructive or destructive.

Trans Women Belong at Smith:

Q&A meets with the Board of Trustees this Saturday at 8am. They want to take a full academic year to decide if they want to amend the admissions policy to facilitate the admission of more trans women to Smith College.

We decided to welcome them to Smith this weekend by showing our support for a more immediate decision. "It’s been too long, trans women belong." Send the Board an email or phonecall in support of trans women directly or by signing our petition. (You don’t have to be affiliated with smith to do this.)

A man tried to talk to a woman inside a Queens building lobby, then slashed her neck when she ignored him, according to police, who are now looking for the suspect.

The man, believed to be about 20 years old, approached the 26-year-old victim in the lobby of a Jamaica building after 5 a.m. on Oct. 1, police said.

He tried talking to the woman and when she turned away, he grabbed her from behind and used some sort of cutting instrument to slash her neck, according to police.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. An aquaintance of the victim told NBC 4 New York that she is recovering, but that she suffered damage to her vocal chords.

"Just ignore them"

It is literally life threatening to be a woman

Being a woman is so fucking hard yall dont understand.
